Overall, 2018 saw many areas of growth for MVRPC. Specifically several new organizations and jurisdictions were engaged in regional efforts through the new Greater Region Mobility Initiative (GRMI), the Equity Initiative, and Sustainability Roundtables. Each topic attracted a new group of stakeholders dedicated to expanding collaboration and improving the Region. Launched in 2018, the GRMI is a pilot program focusing on developing a transportation coordination plan for a nine-county region. The Equity Initiative and Sustainability Roundtables both focused on improving residents’ quality of life by addressing existing problems and working together with residents, community leaders, and organizations to make improvements.

Eleven local entities will be awarded grant funding through the Specialized Transportation Program, also known as the Section 5310 - Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program. The funding, totaling close to $750,000, is made available through the Federal Transit Administration and is designed to improve transportation options for the elderly and individuals with disabilities. A large portion of the funding requested will be earmarked for the acquisition of ADA-compliant vehicles to serve the growing demand for handicap-accessible transportation service throughout the Region. MVRPC hosts the Human Services Transportation Coordination Council meetings each quarter. The council’s purpose is to increase options for people with disabilities and seniors through the coordination of public and private providers and the expansion of efforts and resources. The Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA) monitors the air in the Miami Valley. If and when air pollution levels are forecasted to be high, an "Air Pollution Advisory" will be issued by MVRPC, in conjunction with RAPCA. Gohio Commute is a FREE service available to anyone who lives, works, or attends college in Montgomery, Greene, Miami, Preble, Darke, and Clinton Counties. It provides information on commuting options, such as carpooling, vanpooling, and bikepooling, and matches applicants with others who have similar schedules and destinations.
