The Dayton Foundation - Del mar encore Fellow for MVRPC

The Del Mar Encore Fellow will support MVRPC Institute for Livable and Equitable Communities' Livable and Age-Friendly Communities Inititative; working to engage critical partners in supporting the Institute domains, assisting in recruiting communities to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly State and Communities and coordinating funding for age-friendly regional initiatives. In addition, the Del Mar Encore Fellow will work to establish key partnerships with national age-friendly organizations such as AARP and state-wide groups including the Coalition of Age-Friendly Communities. Transportation Planner III

The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to fill the position of Transportation Planner III. The Transportation Planner III is an advanced-level technical planning position that is part of the team responsible for preparing the regional long-range transportation plan, congestion management processes, and maintenance of the MPO/RTPO regional transportation planning process. The planning process also includes public participation activities and coordination with member jurisdictions and regulatory agencies.
Working under the direction of the Director of Transportation Planning and Funding, this position requires ownership of certain tasks but also provides support and contributes to the overall transportation planning team.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  •  Experience collecting, maintaining, and updating transportation and land use data under a GIS environment; including the multimodal transportation system, residential and commercial development, and other various data required for the long and short range plan; including necessary fieldwork.
  • Experience with long-range population and employment forecasting at the regional level.
  • Technical data analysis, report writing, and the ability to effectively summarize the data for presentations.
  • Experience leading various transportation GIS-related activities such as database development and management, quality control, and map production as needed.
  • Ability to participate in various spatial and non-spatial statistical data analyses and presentations, including transportation systems, land use, and Census demographic data.
  • Experience in planning and development of long-range transportation plan reports.
  • Experience participating in various short and/or long-range multimodal transportation planning efforts, including, freight planning; transportation performance management; congestion management systems; and other relevant planning/engineering studies.
  • Ability to respond to internal and external requests for data and related information.
  • Familiarity with travel demand model networks and the ability to assist in analyzing travel demand model output.
  • Experience with transportation planning/capacity software and INRIX/StreetLight data is a plus.
Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission is looking for a candidate who possesses knowledge and interest in transportation and land use planning; considerable knowledge and skills in the use of GIS software (ArcGIS Pro); considerable knowledge of transportation planning, demonstrated experience with research and technical writing; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products; effective oral/written presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with the public.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, urban studies, environmental sciences, geography, or a related field and related experience. A master’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience are preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of related experience with a public entity is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for preferred qualifications.
The salary and job title will be determined commensurate with education and experience. The salary range is $65,000 - $95,000.
