Transportation

MVRPC is designated as the Metropolitan Planning Organization by the governor of Ohio and its members are responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami, Montgomery and portions of Warren Counties. On transportation issues the MVRPC Board is served by the Technical Advisory Committee, which meets the third Thursday of each month.

In its position as the area’s planner for metropolitan transportation, MVRPC develops plans that ensure the continued successes of this region… plans that enhance this area’s competitive position, promote integration of systems, stimulate the economy, improve your own personal mobility, and preserve our environment.

If you are looking for information about our transportation programs and services for seniors, disabled or disadvantaged people, please visit our Services for Non Drivers section. For more information about our ongoing transportation planning activities we recommend visiting our Long Range Transportation Plan and Short Range Plan sections. Additional sections provide information about getting around the Miami Valley Region, ranging from bike path maps to traffic count information.

MVRPC often uses some confusing acronyms and terms specific to transportation planning. The Federal Highway Administration maintains a Planning Glossary which was compiled to help you understand transportation planning terms and acronyms. You will find terms relating to surface transportation, federal legislation and regulations, as well as those from other areas of practice that related to transportation planning.
