Land Use Planning

MVRPC completed a regional land use planning initiative called “Going Places—An Integrated Land Use Vision for the Miami Valley Region” in 2015.

 The goal of Going Places was to accomplish three major results: an understanding of regional trends and issues, a shared future land use vision for the year 2040, and a set of implementation tools to advance the vision. The outcome included two major elements: a shared regional vision that reflects what people want our Region to become, and the set of 11 implementation tools that are needed to make this vision a reality.  A summary booklet about Going Places highlights the initiative’s accomplishments and the implementation tools we are developing.

Implementation Tools 

The implementation tools were designed to address these critical needs with MVRPC ’s mission, expertise, and capacity in mind. Each tool is for communities to use as a resource and guide as they see fit. 

The tools address the following major needs: 

• Provide better information for strong decision making 
• Strengthen regional collaboration
• Build the Region’s capacity for solutions

MVRPC has advanced 11 implementation tools over the years to provide valuable resources to address the needs and challenges faced by our communities and the Region. MVRPC is committed to continue to work with our partners to lead, partner, and support the adoption of new tools and to advance various planning initiatives.
