The Long Range Transportation Plan is a long-range (20+year) strategy and capital improvement program developed to guide the effective investment of public funds in multi modal transportation facilities. The plan is updated every 4 years, and may be amended as a result of changes in projected Federal, State and local funding, major improvement studies, Congestion Management Process plans, interchange justification studies, and environmental impact studies. The Plan provides the context from which the region's Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), a short-range capital improvement program for implementing highway, transit, and bikeway projects, is drawn.
On December 1, 2011, the MVRPC Board of Directors adopted the fiscally constrained, proposed congestion management project list. Based on this list, MVRPC staff will initiate conformity interagency consultation, travel demand model runds, and associated technical analyses in preparation for Long Range Transportation Plan Adoption in May of 2012.
MVRPC is in the process of updating its current 2030 Long Range Transportation Plan. The new Plan Update is expected to be completed by May 2012. The Plan Update will include the following public participation opportunities:
MVRPC held a series of Public Participation Meetings in October 2011 regarding the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan Update. MVRPC staff reviewed the list of DRAFT transportation projects and accept comments/input regarding transportation issues in order to update the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. This is an opportunity for the general public to have a say in the future of transportation in the Miami Valley. MVRPC staff will present background information on existing transportation conditions and the transportation goals which have been established.
