The Healthy Communities Planning Toolkit is a curated collection of resources for both community planners and public health professionals to advance health outcomes throughout the Miami Valley. This is part of PLAN4Health – Miami Valley’s long-term goal of seeking solutions and building capacity.

The Regional Profiles provide insight on where the Miami Valley Region stands by providing data, information, and maps on a variety of subjects.

Launched in the summer of 2016, the Regional Profiles touch on many important aspects of our Region, such as its infrastructure, environment, economy, and social characteristics. MVRPC has published several individual regional profiles and the topics range from our Region’s transportation system to workforce to equity.

The Miami Valley is fortunate to encompass both rural landscapes and vibrant urban centers. This diversity provides for a range of cultural and recreational opportunities for Miami Valley residents, while offering everyone a full spectrum of residential and employment options. Open space preservation, including both natural area conservation and farmland preservation, is a tool for managing and shaping regional development to preserve both urban and rural character for future generations.

MVRPC analyzes crash data to determine the baseline trend of where and what types of crashes occur within the boundaries of the RTPO so that locations that may need improvements get highlighted for potential future more in-depth analyses.

The crash data used in this was collected between 2022 and 2024 from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and from Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) police reports. High priority intersections and roadway segments were selected based on a variety of factors, including the frequency and severity of crashes.

This outlines the process for regional project submissions to Ohio’s Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC), which funds Major New Capacity transportation projects exceeding $12 million. Due to state funding constraints, the 2026 TRAC application cycle operates under a limited scope that accepts project development requests solely for existing projects rather than new Tier I construction. MVRPC provides project sponsors with the necessary scoring tools, policy guidelines, and submission timelines to establish a prioritized regional list for ODOT funding approval.
