URISA Excellence in GIS Webinar Series.The Dayton Foundation RecognizesThe Dayton Foundation attended the December 5, 2024 MVRPC on our Response toBoard of Directors meeting to present a special Thank You to the MVRPC Board of Directors and Staff regarding Memorial Day Tornadoes 2019 their leadership in the regional disaster recovery efforts for the 2019 Memorial Day Tornadoes. Mike Parks and Jeanne Holihan from The Dayton Foundation spoke about the efforts and impact of the agency to the quick response to the tornadoes. Mike Parks summarized the discussions during the first planning meeting, especially the shock of hearing from the FEMA team that this process would take 6-10 years to recover. During those initial meetings, Mr. Parks referenced that he and others agreed that MVRPC could be the glue to hold this project together for up to 10 years. Brian (Martin) didnt even hesitate, didnt hesitate for one second and said well play that role and were in. Mr. Parks acknowledged that in addition to all the work MVRPC was already doing, the agency picked up this role including the development of the Disaster Recovery Leadership Board.
