MVRPC supports all modes of transportation options including biking, walking, carpooling, vanpooling, taking transit or changing to electric options to reduce air pollution and lower transportation costs. MVRPC has programs to support finding transportation options that fit the needs for travel in the region.
Commute to Work or College
MVRPC’s Rideshare Program is a participant in a statewide program called Gohio Commute and supports this free resource for those who work, live or go to college in Montgomery, Greene, Miami, Preble, Darke, Shelby and Clinton Counties. Users can register and explore smarter ways to commute like ride matching to form a carpool or bikepool, transit and bike routes to match your trip or form a vanpool for longer commutes. Sustainable commute options like carpooling, vanpooling, biking, walking and taking transit reduce traffic congestion and emissions to reduce air pollution in the region.
Active Transportation Resources
MVRPC supports active transportation and the development of infrastructure to provide safe transportation options for all modes. Through the Complete Streets Policy, MVRPC encourages transportation projects to consider all modes to create a safe transportation options for those who choose to walk or bike rather than drive. MVRPC works with over a dozen trail managing agencies to support the 350 miles of paved trails that make up the Nation’s Largest Paved Trail Network – the Miami Valley Trails. MiamiValleyTrails.org provides maps, descriptions, and resources related to using the trails for your active commute.
