Transportation Enhancements (TE) Funds

In 1991, the US Department of Transportation turned its sights on developing a more modally balanced transportation system by encouraging projects that are "more than asphalt, concrete, and steel." The focus of building our transportation system now involves consideration of environmental, cultural, economic, and social conditions in an effort to create a more balanced transportation system which provides people with choices and with a richer experience. The TE program provides for the implementation of a variety of nontraditional projects, with examples ranging from the restoration of historic transportation facilities, to bike and pedestrian facilities, to landscaping and scenic beautification, and to the mitigation of water pollution from highway runoff.

2009 Transportation Enhancement Project Submittal

On September 3, 2009 MVRPC 's Board of Directors authorized MVRPC staff to solicit for new STP /CMAQ and TE Projects. Subsequently, staff is currently soliciting MVRPC area jurisdictions beginning on September 8, 2009.

Below are all documents necessary for TE project submittal. Project sponsors who wish to submit TE requests are required to self-score their projects using the TE Project Evaluation Form. Immediately following the TAC meeting on September 17, 2009, MVRPC staff will hold a short seminar for jurisdictions regarding the 2009 STP / CMAQ and TE application process.

TE Documents Necessary for Submittal:

Please submit completed applications and complete self-scoring sheets by 2:00 p.m. October 15, 2009 to Paul Arnold, MVRPC, One South Main St., Suite 260, Dayton, OH, 45402. When compiling an application, be sure to include all materials requested in the application along with any additional information you feel helps describe the project and its benefits. If your jurisdiction wishes to apply for more than one project, you must enclose a ranked listing of these projects according to your jurisdiction's priority. Given the limited amount of funding available for each fund source, jurisdictions should submit no more than a total of four applications for funding. Please limit applications to projects for which you have actual local matching funds available.

As outlined in the funding policy, TE funds can only be used for the construction phase of projects. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Paul Arnold at 937-223-6323.
