Bikeways & Pedestrian Facilities
healthy options for Miami Valley citizens
The Miami Valley's extensive bike/pedestrian system, recognized as one
of the best in the country, has undergone numerous upgrades in recent
years including the completion of the H-Connector/Kettering Spur (also
know as Creekside Trail), Xenia Station, Ohio to Erie Trail from Xenia
to Cedarville, Kauffman Avenue Bikeway, Little Miami Trail extension,
and paving the Wolf Creek Bikeway. Overall, the Miami Valley Region is
home to over 200 miles of bike/pedestrian paths and routes with many more
planned for the future.

Bike/pedestrian paths are important to this region because they serve to interconnect the various jurisdictions in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties. Bike/pedestrian paths also provide an alternative mode of transportation for commuting to and from work or recreational purposes. By constructing more bike/pedestrian paths there is a potential to positively impact air quality and traffic congestion in the region by providing options for motorists to commute by bicycle.
MVRPC plays a key role in securing federal and state funding for the construction of bike/pedestrian projects. Any Bike/pedestrian project constructed with State or Federal funds must be placed on MVRPC's Long Range Plan (LRP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). More information on the LRP or TIP is available on this web site.
