MVRPC is designated as the Metropolitan Planning Organization by the governor of Ohio and its members are responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami , Montgomery and portions of Warren Counties. On transportation issues the MVRPC Board is served by the Technical Advisory Committee. In its position as the area’s planner for metropolitan transportation, MVRPC develops plans that ensure the continued successes of this region … plans that enhance this area’s competitive position, promote integration of systems, stimulate the economy, improve your own personal mobility, and preserve our environment.

On June 1, 2006 MVRPC Board of Directors approved updates to the Transportation Project Funding Decision Making Process (Adobe Acrobat Reader:42 kb).

The MVRPC Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) meets the third Thursday of the month hear presentations on transportation-related information.

State Fiscal Year 2006 obligations

The following is a list of projects in the MVRPC area, including investments in transit, roadway, pedestrian walkways and bicycle transportation facilities, for which Federal funds were obligated in State Fiscal Year 2006. Projects totaling over $25 million in roadway and bike/pedestrian facilities, as well as over $16 million for transit projects, were obligated.

MVRPC Transportation Programs

The Long Range Transportation Plan
The Long Range Transportation Plan is a long range (20+ year) strategy and capital improvement program of multimodal transportation facilities that ensures the wise investment of public funds.
Transportation Improvement Program
The Transportation Improvement Program is a four-year capital improvement program of highway, bikeway and transit projects that ensures coordination between the urban transportation planning process and projects utilizing federal funds. It also guides implementation of the Long Range Transportation Plan in logical stages.
Current Projects and Programs
With the future of our community in mind, MVRPC also coordinates the planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructures and provides the following services:Coordination in the state and federal highway project development process to accelerate the completion date of these projects.
  • ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) continues to be at the forefront of transportation planning at MVRPC.
  • Assistance to members regarding traffic flow, roadway capacity and safety problems;
  • Census and economic calculations for local jurisdictions and the public;
  • Air Quality planning to protect and enhance our quality of life, as guided by the Clean Air Act amendments of 1990.
