Montgomery Greene County Local Emergency Response Council (MGCLERC)

WHAT IS MGCLERC?

• MGCLERC fulfills all duties and responsibilities of a local emergency planning committee as specified in SARA Title III and Chapter 3750 of the Ohio Revised Code.
• The State Emergency Response Commission of Ohio (SERC) established a joint local emergency planning district including both Greene and Montgomery Counties on July 3, 1987.
• The SERC established the MGCLERC as the local emergency planning committee for the Montgomery/Greene Joint Local Emergency Planning District on August 13, 1987.
• The MGCLERC meets four times a year on the last Friday of each January, April, July, and October.

WHO IS ON MGCLERC?

• MGCLERC members are appointed by SERC from a list of names recommended by the Board of County Commissioners of both Greene and Montgomery Counties.
• Terms are for two years beginning in August of each odd-numbered year.
• At a minimum, the list must include a representative from each of the following 12 categories:

WHAT DOES MGCLERC DO?

• Develop and revise a joint local hazardous materials emergency response plan for Greene and Montgomery Counties.
• Conduct an annual exercise to test the plan and its updates.
• Receive and process information from facilities.
• Make information available to the general public about hazardous chemicals and risks in the community.
• Conduct a compliance program to insure all applicable facilities are reporting hazardous chemical information.

WHAT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE?

• Information on the emergency response plan, facility chemical inventory reports, and chemical release notifications can be obtained by contacting MGCLERC.
• The MGCLERC conducts studies on hazardous materials in the two county area.
