Regional Cooperation
In a time of shrinking local government budgets cooperative activites provide opportunities to save money on services. As municipal responsibilities become increasingly complex and demanding, municipalities should continually seek out the best way to provide the services needed by their communities. One tool to assist in addressing this challenge is intergovernmental cooperation.
The Greater Dayton Mayors and Managers Association has complied a draft list of 430 different areas (
:78 kb)where local governments, including cities, villages, townships, and counties cooperate with each other individually or collectively to provide improved services at lower cost. This report is a draft list and work in progress. These existing areas should serve as suggestions for others, and an avenue for seeking out more cooperation avenues.
