Walkable Communities · May 05, 2005

Walking around a familiar intersection that you usually only drive through sure can be interesting. As a participant in a Walkable Communities Workshop in the City of Riverside yesterday, I noticed more about the neighborhood in an afternoon than in years of semi-regular driving through the intersection at Woodman and Airway.

Regional Principles Update · May 05, 2005

Comments and feedback regarding the draft Regional Principles continue to come in, though the pace has slowed. The vast majority of the comments received have been very supportive of the concept of developing a Regional Compact and of the Principles listed. A very small number of the comments received have been opposed to the concept of regional thinking and action. We would like your comments on the draft Principles by June 10, 2005.

Regional Dialogue Summary · Mar 03, 2005

MVRPC has published a summary report of the first annual Regional Dialogue, held at the Dayton Convention Center on March 17, 2005. In general, there was broad support for all the regional growth concepts presented.

Dayton Daily News supports discussions · Mar 03, 2005

On the March 30 Opinions page, the Dayton Daily News proclaims MVRPC has good issue, at right time (registration required). Based on current pressures facing local governments in the Miami Valley, the Dayton Daily News states “the planning commission is the right group to be pressing the idea and bringing people together to talk about how governments can act with collective purpose.” This position echos support for these discussions from the Regional Dialogue attendees.

To achieve this vision proposed in the Agenda for the Future the communities in the region need to voluntarily join together to implement a Cooperative Growth Strategies that preserve the interests of each town and city yet profits from unified regional actions.
