MVRPC Planning Atlas
A new data and information tool, the MVRPC Planning Atlas, has been released by the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission. The Planning Atlas is a collection of maps that describe in detail various planning attributes of the Miami Valley Region. It will provide MVRPC's member jurisdictions and the general public with a resource to obtain various types of information and data about the Region. The current edition of the atlas is divided into five categories of maps - Boundaries, Land Use, Census, Transportation and Natural Resources. The geographic extent of the maps varies from a single county to more than seven counties, depending on the subject matter.
- The Boundaries category presents boundary maps of various analysis/service zones in the Region, i.e., census block group and census tract boundaries, political jurisdiction boundaries etc.
- The Land Use category maps provide information on regional land use including 2000 urbanized area, population and employment projections etc.
- The Census category includes maps depicting US census data analyses such as population distribution, minority population distribution, household median and per capita income etc.
- The Transportation category maps include data on transportation networks and analyses in the Region including highway, bikeway and pedestrian networks, transit accessibility and environmental justice analysis.
- The Natural Resources category provides a snapshot of the various natural resources in the Region including prime farm lands, etc.
The maps in each category vary in geographic extent based on the subject matter. The geographic extent of the maps varies from a single county to more than seven counties. For this First Edition of the MVRPC Planning Atlas, all maps are provided in PDF format. To find a map, browse the list of maps available in each category.
